ECM Records RALPH ALESSI : A SUN THAT NEVER SETS CD

For A Sun That Never Sets, Ralph Alessi expands his quartet into a quintet for eleven new compositions shaped by intricate writing, reflection and adventure. Joseph Alessi adds inspired trombone lines that frequently enter into wild exchanges with the trumpet, while Matt Mitchell, John Hébert and Ches Smith navigate the syncopated themes with flexibility and invention. Contemplative passages coexist with angular structures and powerful ensemble playing.
