ECM Records ANDY SHEPPARD TRIO : SALT CATCHERS CD

On Salt Catchers, English saxophonist Andy Sheppard introduces a new trio with Italian pianist Rita Marcotulli and French double bassist Michel Benita. Filled with melodic beauty, delicate harmony and thoughtful interplay, the album presents eight new Sheppard compositions alongside Carla Bley’s “Lawns”. The drummerless setting gives the music a tranquil, chamber-like character while preserving Sheppard’s distinctive sound and elegant phrasing. Salt Catchers was recorded in March 2025 at Auditorio Stelio Molo RSI in Lugano and produced by Manfred Eicher.
